The Gospel passage that I read today was the account of the beheading of John the Baptist. Yesterday, I wrote about hate and being hated. The Gospel acclamation today is from Matthew 5:10 and I want to trust Jesus on this one with all my heart … “Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.”
It is a beautiful promise, one that I am unworthy of. Life can be very difficult and challenging. As a Christian, I am going to suffer and I am going to be persecuted. Praise the Lord! Amen.
