“Lord, Save Me!”

saving-grace-1

In Matthew 14:22-36, the words of St. Peter ring loud and clear when he was walking on water at the command of Jesus. Peter became frightened by the strong wind, started to sink and cried out “Lord, save me!” Jesus tells us, in some form or another in the Gospels, do not be afraid at least 365 times, which would be one for every day of the year. How many strong winds are roaring in our lives that keep us in fear from accomplishing the will of God?

Winds of fear like seeking to be politically correct, not wanting to judge the sin of another, yes, the sin and not the person and many other fears. The world has brought evil to light as good and good to light as evil. When did we get so twisted?

Tonight as I walk on the turbulent waters of the world toward Jesus, I cry out “Lord, save us from ourselves!” We are drowning. We are in very difficult times. There is no one to turn to but Jesus. He is the only one who can save us.
